Ventilation is a key component of staying comfortable inside a tent, which is why the GFC Platform Camper was designed with passive ventilation in mind. Each door provides a lower perimeter air intake to ensure adequate airflow, while the forward side windows can be partially opened even in a rainstorm to create a crossflow effect that ensures adequate ventilation.
And when the weather is fair, the rain doors can be rolled up to reveal panoramic mesh inner doors made from a specialized weave that provides both shade and incredible airflow.
The sleeping area can be accessed in several different ways, starting with our proprietary Transform-A-Floor design that allows pass through from the truck bed into the upstairs sleeping area. It’s easy to move from the truck bed to the tent and back again without ever going outside.

You can also access the sleeping area from outside the bed using our ladder and either the rear or optional side doors on the tent. This is a great option if you frequently get up in the night or if you carry a lot of gear and find your truck bed is always full of stuff.

All three access panels are made from 5052 aluminum and feature two locks per panel for added security. Our new locks were designed specifically for off-road applications and feature an improved dust flap to protect the core from gumming up (something that was sometimes an issue with our old locks), a smoother action, and the new key design allows the key to be inserted in either orientation for hassle-free actuation. Optional weather covers ensure reliable latching even in extreme weather and dusty environments.

The panels open using our proprietary Embassy Hinge design. It’s modeled after the hinges used in US embassies and noted for its ability to resist forced entry via gunfire. Needless to say, it’s the strongest hinge on the market and we’ve never had one fail. Overkill? Maybe. But that’s one less thing to worry about when you’re dodging cactus down in Baja or threading rocks on the Rubicon.
