Learning Never Stops at Academie de la Capitale! Every summer, we open our doors to students of all ages by offering various summer day camps: a Kinder camp for children aged 4-5, an i.S.T.E.A.M. camp for ages 6-10 and a Coding & Robotics Camp for children aged 8 and up.
Our camps combine indoor learning activities and outdoor play. Every day programming includes campers of all ages participating in a specialized Athletik programme, focusing on various independent and group sports skills each week.
The day camps operate from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday (except on holidays), with a morning and afternoon supervision option that allows for drop offs as early as 8:30 am and pickups as late as 5:25 pm. We offer Monday pizza and Tuesday-Friday lunch options as well.
Literary Art Events In Ottawa
AcadeCamp is an innovative, science-themed summer programme allowing campers ages 6-10 to experiment, ask questions, and get messy, in a bilingual setting. Innovation, Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture/Arts and Math (iSTEAM) demand inquiry, connection, experimentation, and exploration.
This summer, AcadeCAMP KINDER, will inquire into real-life STEAM fields, and participate in a variety of hands-on, cooperative learning activities within a bilingual environment. Small groups of campers, ages 4 and 5, will be exploring various literary genres, and spend as much time outside as possible as we remain in our cohorts.
AcadeCODERS is a coding and robotics camp focused on introducing campers, ages 8 and up, to various technological disciplines while also ensuring they enjoy physical activities outdoors and through the Athletik programme. There will be a total of 8 weeks, each with its own major focus.

Our curriculum is developed by the iSTEAM team, and each day will involve learning new concepts, working on projects, and outdoor activity for a well-balanced camp experience.
For students with reading and writing difficulties, we offer Orton Gillingham-based SMILE sessions, in addition to the activities provided during our AcadeCAMP or AcadeCODERS sessions. The OG SMILE sessions will be offered for 45 minutes, 5 times a week (4 times a week during holiday weeks), and the participant must register for at least 4 weeks, or preferably all summer, in order for the programme to be effective. If a student has not been evaluated previously, pre- and post- testing will be provided. With the Orton Gillingham approach, a student learns using the visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile senses simultaneously. This camp offers a stimulating learning environment where children can learn about and engage in many creative writing activities for kids to discover the joy in writing and the intrigue of language and the confidence of authorship. CONTINUING FOR SUMMER 2023: A full cafeteria lunch will be offered as an optional add-on to your summer camp registration at a cost of $43 per week ($34.40 for a 4 day camp).
Half of the day will be devoted to Creative Writing programming in the Carleton Library HyFlex Learning Space. There will be writing time structured into activities so that children can experiment with various genres and create their own unique written pieces. At the end of the week, each child will take home a personal portfolio of their camp writing.
The other half of the day is spent playing games and trying new sports (including) a daily swim). Sports and activities will take place in our top tier facilities such as our Ravens Field, Ravens Perch (stadium field), Norm Fenn Gym, Fieldhouse and Olympic-sized swimming pool. Children are encouraged to try new activities, and each week, activities are tailored to the abilities of the children. Most importantly, we emphasize being active and having fun!

Creative Writing activities may include exposure to various genres such as: fiction, poetry, comics, aboriginal storytelling, drama and the short Story (we develop unique activities for each week – not all genres can be covered in the week, but the children will be exposed to a unique combination of activities that covers many different forms).
Sports & Activities may include playing a number of games and trying different sports such as: Ball Hockey, Basketball, Tchoukball, Field Hockey, Soccer, Ultimate, Track & Field and Water Games.
The registration fee includes a t-shirt and recreational swim. Please note that a full cafeteria lunch will be offered as an optional add-on to your summer camp registration as a cost of $43 per week. Parents also have the option to pack nutritious lunch for their child as an alternative. Campers in the same group who bring their own lunch will sit together at a location outside of the cafeteria. Unfortunately, campers who bring their own lunch are not permitted to eat inside the cafeteria.
What Does A School Of Data Summer Camp Look Like?

To register in person, visit our Welcome Centre in the Alumni Hall.Thank you so much for your interest in our summer care program. Sunshine Day Camp has proudly served over 500 families in Ottawa-Gatineau area and is the only program in the area that specializes in programming for children with learning disabilities and/or ADHD between the ages of 7 and 14. We offer a low-ratio (5:1) care program that is packed full of stimulating and hands-on activities and field trips for our campers, and are lucky to have a team of experienced staff on hand with knowledge of learning exceptionalities.
Session 1 (July 4-14) involves a statutory holiday on July 4th and Session 3 (August 8-18) involves a statutory holiday on August 7th. Because these holidays mean we will lose a day of camp in each session, the first and third session will be offered at a pro-rated cost of $675, including HST. No care will be offered on the Monday of each of these sessions, with the first day of camp being on the Tuesday.
We kindly invite all families and prospective campers to submit an application form found below. The application is extensive and covers medical, contact, and behavioural information for each camper. You can choose to download and complete the form online or print the document, fill by hand and send by email to the address provided. All applications, once received by the camp team, will be stored securely and reviewed by the Camp Director. After review, the Camp Director will reach out to the family or caregiver. If your camper is deemed eligible for camp, you will be invited to set up an intake interview to gather additional information and determine suitability of the program for the child. No payment will be received until registration has been confirmed.
